India, June 16 -- The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) today reveals that Africa is entering a new era of tourism growth, with Travel & Tourism (T&T) outperforming the wider economy and positioning the continent among one of the world's fastest-growing regions in 2026.

Kenya's Tourism Highlights

Economic Contribution (2025):

- $12.7 billion to GDP (9.3% of national GDP).

- Supported 1.8 million jobs (8.3% of total employment).

Balanced Demand Model:

- International visitor spending: $5 billion (52.4%).

- Domestic visitor spending: $4.5 billion (47.6%).

Visitor Growth:

- 2.5 million international arrivals (+5.6% YoY).

Trade Surplus:

- Net inflow of $3.96 billion from inbound vs outbound travel.

Sustainability Leadership:

- 19.9% of energy from low-carbon sources (vs global avg 5.9%, Africa avg 2.9%).
