India, July 10 -- The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has officially commenced construction on the Inderlok-Indraprastha Corridor of the Magenta Line, starting with Diaphragm Wall construction at Sarai Rohilla Metro Station.

Corridor Highlights

- Length: 12.377 km, fully underground.

- Stations: 10 underground stations, including Sarai Rohilla, strategically located near Karol Bagh, Desh Bandhu Gupta Road, and key educational and cultural hubs.

Interchange Connectivity:

- Green & Red Lines at Inderlok

- Magenta Line at Nabi Karim

- Yellow & Orange Lines at New Delhi

- Violet Line at Delhi Gate

- Blue Line at Indraprastha

Strategic Importance

- Will connect major destinations: Sarai Rohilla Railway Station, New Delhi Railway Station, Delhi Sachivalaya, Arun Jaitley Stadium, Jhandewalan Mandir, India Gate, Kartavya Path, and Central Vista.

- Once complete, the Magenta Line will become the longest corridor in the Delhi Metro network, stretching ~89 km from Botanical Garden to Inderlok.

- Entirely driverless metro corridor, enhancing efficiency and safety.

Current Progress

- Priority corridor (Janakpuri West-R.K. Ashram Marg) already has sections operational:

- Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extn (1.8 km)

- Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park (9.9 km)

- Remaining sections to open in phases.

- Construction on the Central Vista corridor has also begun.

This expansion is set to transform cross-city connectivity in Delhi, making travel faster and more seamless across multiple metro lines and key destinations.
