India, July 11 -- CMRL requests passengers to observe Metro etiquettes and show
consideration for their fellow passengers.
Legal Basis:
Section 59 of the Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002.
Key Rule:
Any act causing nuisance or discomfort to fellow passengers is punishable.
Examples of Violations:
- Loud mobile conversations
- Playing music/videos without headphones
- Using speaker mode inside trains or stations
Updated Penalty (via Jan Vishwas Act, 2026):
- Fine increased from Rs.500 to up to Rs.2,500
- Offenders may also be removed from metro premises by officials
CMRL Request to Passengers:
- Use headphones
- Avoid speaker mode
- Keep conversations at a considerate volume
