India, Oct. 10 -- The process of clearing immigration at UK airports could soon become faster for eligible travellers. This will be possible with the introduction of contactless e-gates. The e-gates will use facial recognition to verify passengers without requiring them to scan their passports. The initiative was launched on October 6, 2026, with the UK government planning to expand the technology nationwide by early 2027.
