India, April 27 -- For New Yorkers looking to trade the city for a weekend in the mountains, there's an easy way to get there without the hassle of driving. Amtrak's Berkshire Flyer train is a seasonal weekend route running from late June through early September, connecting New York City and the Berkshires. The roughly four-hour, 190-mile journey follows the Hudson River before heading east into the mountains-no car required.

The service is funded in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Transportation as part of a broader effort to make the Berkshires more accessible to travelers.
