India, March 1 -- The Carolinas have been my home for almost three decades. During that time, I've learned which small towns live up to the hype, and which quietly overdeliver. There's one place I find myself returning to again and again that does both, skillfully blending pop-culture nostalgia, Blue Ridge outdoor access, and a surprisingly fantastic wine region (I say this as a reformed skeptic).
