India, April 25 -- As a Des Moines, Iowa native, I grew up visiting the Iowa State Fair almost every summer. It's the time of year when families come together, locals return home, and tourists travel from far and wide to experience all it has to offer. For anyone visiting during the summer months, the Iowa State Fair is a must. Held annually over two weeks in August, it takes place at the fairgrounds in the heart of the capital, Des Moines.
Considered one of the top 10 largest fairs in the U.S., the Iowa State Fair draws more than one million visitors each year. This year, the fair runs from Aug. 13-26 and will showcase cattle, fried foods, local brews, concerts, and more-all spread across 445 acres of fairgrounds.
