India, Sept. 16 -- India's hospital sector has increasingly split into two camps: chains chasing ownership of land and buildings, and those choosing to scale through management contracts and public-private partnerships instead. The asset-light route has gained particular traction in underserved states, where established local facilities already exist but lack the capital, branding or clinical standards to operate at scale, leaving room for larger players to step in as operators rather than owners.
