Mazagon Dock Signs MoU To Anchor 1.2 Million GT Greenfield Shipyard At Dighi, Maharashtra
India, Sept. 17 -- Even as domestic demand for ships, defense platforms and green-energy carriers keeps climbing, India's shipbuilding industry has long been a laggard, building less than one in every hundred large vessels ordered globally. The government has responded by seeding greenfield shipbuilding clusters anchored by experienced public sector yards, so that new capacity comes with the discipline of an established operator attached from day one rather than starting from scratch. Mazagon Dock's latest commitment falls right in line with that strategy.
