India, Sept. 18 -- IndiGo spent years building India's biggest airline. FY26 was supposed to be the year it started looking much bigger than India. Boeing 787 Dreamliners arrived, London Heathrow joined the network, Europe became a serious part of the plan and the airline doubled its Airbus A350 order to 60 aircraft.

Now, just as that international push is getting bigger, IndiGo is doing something that looks completely opposite. It is ending its Boeing 787 damp-lease programme, temporarily stopping flights to London Heathrow and sending the Dreamliners back. So why is IndiGo stepping away from Heathrow at the exact moment its global ambition is becoming bigger?
