India, Sept. 19 -- Delhi and Siliguri are important gateways to the northern parts of India with the eastern and northeastern parts of India. The proposed Delhi-Varanasi-Patna-Siliguri high-speed rail corridor will provide faster rail connectivity between these regions. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the proposed rail corridor has been sent to the Ministry of Railways by NHSRCL. Once operational, the Delhi-Siliguri journey could fall from around 20-24 hours to approximately 6 hours 45 minutes.

What Is Being Planned? The proposed Delhi-Siliguri high-speed rail corridor will connect Delhi with Siliguri via Varanasi and Patna. The corridor is a part of high-speed railway corridors mentioned in the Union Budget 2026-27.
