India, Aug. 26 -- The Chennai Peripheral Ring Road (CPRR) is being built to provide an alternate route for traffic and to enhance connectivity between major highways, industrial areas and the important ports. The project will significantly contribute to the existing ring road network of Chennai, which is expected to expand in the future.

Chennai Peripheral Ring Road (CPRR) is a 132.877 km access-controlled corridor under development to link north and south parts of Chennai. It will run from Ennore Port in the north to Poonjeri Junction, near Mamallapuram in south, passing through some important stations like Thatchur, Periyapalayam, Thamaraipakkam, Tiruvallur, Sriperumbudur and Singaperumalkoil.
