India, March 27 -- A regulatory parity dispute has brought India's second-largest telecom operator into sharp focus, with the company pressing the Department of Telecommunications for equitable AGR treatment after the government extended a 10-year payment freeze to its financially distressed rival. The timing is pointed: Airtel's own repayment window opens in March 2026, making the DoT's response time-sensitive for the company's cash flow planning.
