India, Oct. 16 -- Behind every solar park sits a long chain of unglamorous work: cables, structures, civil foundations, transport, installation and years of maintenance. This "balance of system" layer is where many EPC players earn their living, usually on tight margins and tight deadlines. Contracts in this space are often passed down from a main contractor to smaller specialists on a back-to-back basis. That makes pricing terms, especially fixed ones, a make-or-break detail when material costs start to move.
