India, Aug. 2 -- The power sector in India is now entering a new stage as the government has launched an Ambitious Nuclear Energy Mission with the aim of raising the installed nuclear capacity from the current level of about 8.8 GW to 100 GW by 2047, in accordance with the Viksit Bharat vision. To achieve this objective, investments amounting to nearly Rs. 20 lakh crore will be needed in connection with reactor construction, equipment manufacturing, transmission infrastructure, and the long-term operation of the plants.
