Understanding the Fundamental Difference
Yangmei, or Chinese Bayberry, is a round reddish-brown berry that looks like a hybrid of a raspberry and a litchi. While Sangshen is either black or deep purple in colour. Sangshen closely resembles blackberries in appearance and is known as the Chinese Mulberry.
Yangmei has a strong sweet and sour flavour, while sangshen has a mellow sweetness to it. Both fruits are consumed during the warm weather season in China.
