India, Aug. 28 -- India Stock Market Today (August 28, 2026): Indian benchmark indices traded higher on Friday, making a recovery from two straight days of declines. The Nifty 50 index was up 0.13% to start the day at 24,122.60, and the BSE Sensex was 0.25% higher opening at 77,128.05. The move came on the heels of a highly volatile trading session on Thursday, which was also marked by monthly derivatives expiry and a late-session drop in the Sensex.

It was the IT stocks that fueled the early rally in Indian equities on account of positive global sentiment towards the tech sector post Nvidia results. Gains however were moderate as investors waited for remarks by US Fed Chief Kevin Warsh at Jackson Hole.
