India, Sept. 21 -- The Indian stock market indices started the week of Monday, September 21, on a mixed basis owing to the weighing off of a decline in oil prices against concerns regarding high energy costs and geopolitics between US and Iran and activity in the primary market. The Sensex gained 329.78 points, or 0.44%, at the beginning of trading to reach 74,624.74 and the Nifty 50 index added 25.60 points, or 0.11%, to settle at 23,372. However, this increase did not last long. By 9:23 am IST, the Sensex was up 0.32% to 74,535.18 whereas the Nifty was lower by 0.07% at 23,330.20.
