India, Sept. 25 -- The Indian stock markets continued to face downside pressures on Friday, September 25, following the fall in benchmark indices witnessed in the previous trading session. The Sensex tanked by 1,247.71 points or 1.67%, and the Nifty 50 shed 383.70 points or 1.64% due to higher oil prices, high yields in the US Treasuries, foreign fund outflows, and poor performance of financial stocks.

It should be remembered that the drop of 1.67% in the Sensex index and the fall of 383.70 points in the Nifty 50 index were seen on September 24. The early signals for September 25 did not point towards further declines but reflected a cautiously positive market trend. GIFT Nifty stood at 23,092 in the morning session.
