India, July 22 -- Why Is Hockey Not Part of Commonwealth Games 2026? Hockey has been excluded from the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow as organisers opted for a significantly scaled-down edition of the multi-sport event. The Games, which begin on Thursday in Scotland, will feature only 10 sports compared to 19 at Birmingham 2022. As a result, several popular disciplines including hockey, cricket, badminton, wrestling, shooting and archery have been dropped, meaning many of India's biggest medal hopes will not be in action during this year's Games.
