India, Sept. 19 -- It's the end of the road for Sweet Magnolias. Netflix has canceled the romantic drama after five seasons, bringing the story of Maddie, Dana Sue and Helen in Serenity to an end. The cancellation comes only months after Season 5 premiered on June 11, 2026. Netflix has now confirmed that there will be no Season 6.

Instead of simply ending its relationship with the show's creative team, Netflix has ordered a new drama from Sweet Magnolias showrunner Sheryl J. Anderson, with JoAnna Garcia Swisher also attached to the project. The new series is called Ladies of the House.
