India, July 13 -- An armed man was arrested at the US Capitol's North Barricade on Monday after driving onto restricted grounds near the Senate side of the building, prompting a heavy police response and a temporary closure of the security checkpoint as investigators worked to determine who he is and why he approached the complex with a firearm.
US Capitol Police said officers stopped the man in his vehicle just before noon at the barricade, located between Delaware Avenue and First Street, and took him into custody after discovering he was carrying a gun.
