India, Oct. 3 -- Mad Sandhu, a popular Punjabi makeup artist, social media influencer and prominent LGBTQ+ personality, was shot dead in Amritsar on Saturday evening. Sandhu, whose full name was Madhusudan, was reportedly attacked by two unidentified men riding a motorcycle. He sustained a gunshot wound and was found lying on the road. He died while being taken to hospital, according to reports. Police have launched an investigation and said they have strong leads in the case.

The killing has shocked Sandhu's followers, particularly because of his outspoken presence on social media. He regularly spoke about makeup, fashion, the film industry, gender and LGBTQ+ acceptance, while also facing homophobic trolling online.
