India, Aug. 25 -- Veteran filmmaker Kuku Kohli, best known for directing Phool Aur Kaante and launching Ajay Devgn as a leading actor, died on August 25, 2026, at the age of 77. Kohli suffered a heart attack and was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai, where he later died. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit described him as hale and hearty before the cardiac episode.

While Kuku Kohli's biggest professional legacy remains his work in Hindi cinema, his personal life also attracted attention, particularly his marriage to veteran actress Aruna Irani.
