India, July 31 -- Veteran playback singer Jamuna Rani, who lent her voice to thousands of songs across Tamil, Telugu and Sinhalese films, has died at the age of 88. She reportedly passed away due to age related ailments in Bengaluru on Thursday, July 30.

Known for her versatile voice and memorable songs from the 1950s and 1960s, Jamuna Rani remained one of South Indian cinema's most respected singers. According to The Hindu, she breathed her last in Bengaluru after a career that spanned several decades.
