India, July 26 -- The 1999 Kargil War saw extraordinary acts of bravery by Indian soldiers defending the country's borders. Four soldiers were awarded the Param Vir Chakra (PVC), India's highest wartime gallantry award, for their exceptional courage during the conflict. Two received the honour posthumously, while two survived to tell their inspiring stories. The Param Vir Chakra is India's highest military decoration awarded for displaying exceptional courage during wartime. During the 1999 Kargil War, four Indian Army soldiers received the prestigious honour for their bravery in some of the toughest battles fought in the mountains of Kargil.
