India, July 24 -- Convicted Southport killer Axel Rudakubana has been transferred from HMP Belmarsh to Broadmoor Hospital, one of the UK's highest security psychiatric facilities, following an independent clinical assessment under the Mental Health Act. The move comes just days before the second anniversary of the July 2024 Southport attack that killed three young girls and injured several others.

While the UK government has stressed that the transfer does not change Rudakubana's life sentence, the decision has prompted fresh questions from the victims' families, who are seeking greater clarity over the reasons behind the move.
