India, Aug. 1 -- Tejaswin Shankar scripted a remarkable comeback at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after injury concerns forced him to withdraw from the high jump event and left his decathlon participation uncertain. Despite the setbacks, the Indian athlete battled through the demanding multi-event competition to secure a historic bronze medal, becoming the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in decathlon.

Tejaswin sealed the achievement with a strong 1500m finish, clocking 4:36.19 to finish with an impressive 7,976 points overall.
