India, July 6 -- Summer McIntosh produced a stunning performance at the 2026 Canadian Swimming Trials, setting a new world record in the women's 200m butterfly on Sunday, July 5. The 19-year-old powered through the race at Montreal Olympic Pool, finishing in 2:01.65 to shave 0.16 seconds off the previous record of 2:01.81 set by China's Liu Zige in 2009. Liu's mark had remained untouched for more than 15 years, surviving well beyond the super-suit era, but McIntosh finally brought it down with a dominant swim.
