India, Oct. 5 -- Karl Deisseroth received the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine along with Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel for their discoveries about light-gated ion channels and optogenetics. Their important research made it possible to control the activity of nerve cells using light. This gave scientists a method to learn how different parts of the brain function.
