India, July 27 -- Gyaneshwari Yadav added another medal to India's Commonwealth Games 2026 campaign after securing silver in the Women's 53kg weightlifting final on Monday. The result marked India's fifth medal of the Games. Yadav began the competition strongly, completing successful lifts of 82kg, 85kg and 88kg in the Snatch section to enter the Clean and Jerk stage in second place behind Nigeria's eventual gold medallist Onome Didih. Canada's Rebeka Groulx claimed bronze with a combined total of 178kg.

In the Clean and Jerk round, Yadav opened with a 103kg lift before raising the mark to 107kg on her second attempt. Didih responded with a 110kg lift, keeping the gold medal battle in Nigeria's favour. Yadav then produced a final effort ...
