India, June 30 -- A US federal court on Monday sentenced self-exiled Chinese billionaire Guo Wengui to 30 years in prison after finding him guilty of running a massive investment fraud that cheated thousands of investors worldwide out of more than $1 billion. The sentencing took place in Manhattan, New York, where Judge Analisa Torres ruled that Guo exploited supporters of his anti-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) movement to fund his lavish lifestyle.

The court also ordered him to forfeit $889 million, bringing to a close one of the most high-profile financial fraud cases involving a Chinese businessman living in the United States.
