India, April 19 -- In a major diplomatic reshuffle, the government led by Narendra Modi has chosen senior BJP leader Dinesh Trivedi as India's next High Commissioner to Bangladesh. The move marks a rare instance of appointing a seasoned politician rather than a career diplomat to represent India in a key neighbouring nation.
Officials said Trivedi will replace senior diplomat Pranay Verma, who will now take charge as India's ambassador to the European Union in Brussels.
