India, Sept. 14 -- Indian recurve archer Dhiraj Bommadevara created history at the 2026 Archery World Cup Final in Saltillo, Mexico, becoming the first Indian man to win the individual title at the season-ending event. The 25-year-old edged Japan's Nakanishi Junya 6-5 in a tense gold-medal contest, holding his nerve in the shoot-off by firing a perfect 10 against his opponent's nine. His triumph also made him only the second Indian archer to claim an individual World Cup Final crown after Dola Banerjee's women's recurve success in 2007.

Bommadevara had earlier produced dominant performances against Turkiye's Olympic medallist Berkim Tumer and France's two-time Olympic silver medallist Jean-Charles Valladont, winning both matches 7-1. The...
