India, May 11 -- A major controversy has erupted in Telangana after a POCSO case was registered against Bandi Bhageerath Sai, son of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar. The complaint, filed by the family of a 17-year-old girl in Hyderabad, alleges sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour.

The case has quickly turned into a high-profile political issue because Bhageerath simultaneously filed a counter-complaint accusing the girl's family of attempting to extort Rs.5 crore from him with opposition parties demanding accountability and police investigating both FIRs and the matter has drawn widespread public attention across Telangana and beyond.
