India, Oct. 9 -- Ashok Anand is an Indian politician belonging to the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) who won the Thattanchavady Assembly constituency by-election in Puducherry. He secured 13,358 votes, defeating his closest rival, E. Vinayagam of the Indian National Congress, by a comfortable margin of 8,482 votes. The seat was vacated by Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, who chose to retain the Mangalam seat after winning both in the main assembly elections.
