India, July 21 -- English referee Anthony Taylor, who has officiated many memorable Premier League fixtures, has retired. He draws the curtains on his illustrious 16-year-long career, which has seen him become an icon with every passing season. Taylor last refereed the FIFA World Cup 2026 Round of 16 game between Portugal and eventual champions Spain. While he is mostly known for his appearances in the Premier League throughout the seasons, his portfolio also included two European Championships and as many World Cups. Taylor, who hung up his boots at the age of 47, has officiated over 650 professional matches, including 432 in the English top tier.
