India, July 14 -- An Indian-origin NASA astronaut, Anil Menon has made history by undertaking his maiden trip to the International Space Station (ISS). The 49 year old emergency medicine doctor and U.S. Space Force Colonel has blasted off from Kazakhstan inside Russia's Soyuz MS-29 craft together with two other cosmonauts, Pyotr Dubrov and Anna Kikina. As part of his approximately eight months long mission, Menon is expected to play an important role in contributing to some advanced science experiments conducted in microgravity such as semiconductor technology, artificial intelligence healthcare and space medicine.
