India, May 3 -- Ever since their exit from OPEC, UAE has been in the limelight. But some of their recent moves, such as distancing from Saudi Arabia and forging an alliance with Israel, could hint at their new realignment strategy.

Why UAE Walked Away from OPEC

At the end of last month, the UAE announced its exit from the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Since then, speculation has been rife about why the Emirati state chose to walk away.

While speaking in a press conference about the shock exit, the UAE's energy minister, Suhail Al Mazrouei, called it a sovereign decision. He also added that it is a long term decision aimed at preparing individuals in the UAE for the future.
