India, May 11 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday allocated portfolios to the first batch of ministers in the newly formed BJP government, while keeping several major departments under his direct control.

The portfolio distribution comes days after the BJP formed its first-ever government in West Bengal following its victory in the 2026 Assembly elections. The initial cabinet currently includes five ministers who took the oath alongside Adhikari last week.

Like former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Adhikari has decided to retain key ministries such as Home Affairs and Finance with himself during the early phase of the government.
