India, July 15 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fresh weather alert for several parts of the country as a low pressure area develops over the North Bay of Bengal. The system is expected to bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds to multiple states over the next few days.

The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in 22 states over the next 12 hours. The affected states include Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Chandigarh, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
