India, July 21 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a fresh surge in monsoon activity across several parts of the country over the next six to seven days. Heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning are expected in states including Delhi, Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha and Assam, while rainfall is likely to remain comparatively subdued across much of south Peninsular India. Authorities have advised people living in flood-prone and hilly areas to stay alert and follow the latest weather advisories as the active monsoon spell returns.
