India, April 26 -- Large parts of India are ending April under intense summer stress. Several northern and western cities are nearing or crossing 44degC, while coastal belts remain humid. Delhi logged one of its hottest April days in recent years at 42.8degC, while Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Rajasthan sectors remain sharply warm. Forecast models also hint at showers and an early monsoon push toward southern India in late May.

Higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and parts of Himachal may see light snowfall or mixed precipitation in elevated zones while lower hill towns are more likely to receive light rain and cloudy skies and this may help reduce daytime temperatures.
