India, May 12 -- India is witnessing one of the sharpest weather contrasts of the season, with scorching heatwaves sweeping western and northern regions while thunderstorms, hailstorms and heavy rain impact other parts of the country. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued multiple alerts as temperatures continue rising rapidly across major cities. From Delhi touching 47degC in the coming days to heavy rainfall warnings in the northeast and southern states, weather conditions remain highly unstable across the country.
