WATCH: Willson Contreras Leaves Red Sox vs Dodgers Game After 95 MPH Pitch Strikes Helmet
India, Aug. 1 -- The Boston Red Sox received a terrifying scare on Friday night in Los Angeles when star first baseman Willson Contreras was forced out of the game against the Dodgers after being hit in the helmet by a 95.4 mph fastball. The incident happened in the top of the third inning. Will Klein was pitching for the Dodgers and had already thrown one pitch high and tight that Contreras barely managed to dive away from. However, on the very next pitch (a 1-1 count), Klein lost control again, and this time the ball struck Contreras directly near his left ear.
