India, Aug. 21 -- Walmart announced on Friday that it will introduce tap-to-pay options, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, at its stores and Sam's Club locations across the United States, ending one of the retail industry's most prominent holdouts against the contactless payment technology.

The rollout will begin on 24 August at a limited number of Walmart and Sam's Club locations, with the company aiming to extend the service to every store and club by the end of 2026. Fuel stations attached to Walmart and Sam's Club sites are expected to gain the capability by mid-2027, the company said.
