India, June 25 -- Venezuela is grappling with the aftermath of two powerful earthquakes that struck within seconds of each other, causing widespread destruction, building collapses and major disruptions to transport and public services.

Authorities have declared a nationwide state of emergency as rescue teams continue searching for survivors. One of the biggest concerns for travellers is the status of Simon Bolivar International Airport (CCS), the country's main international gateway, which suffered significant damage during the disaster.

At least 32 people have been killed and more than 700 injured, while more than 20 aftershocks have continued to shake the country.
