India, Oct. 14 -- The US stock market opened lower on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after hotter-than-expected inflation data strengthened concerns about the Federal Reserve's interest-rate outlook. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite all declined at the opening bell as investors assessed September's Consumer Price Index (CPI) report, rising Treasury yields, elevated oil prices and quarterly earnings from major US banks.

According to Reuters, the Dow Jones fell 85.11 points, or 0.16%, to 51,584.99 at the open. The S&P 500 dropped 31.30 points, or 0.40%, to 7,774.18, while the Nasdaq Composite slid 172.70 points, or 0.63%, to 27,031.64.
