India, May 27 -- The U.S. stock market ended Wednesday on a mixed but largely positive tone as the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged nearly 300 points to a fresh record high. The rally came as oil prices retreated sharply, easing inflation fears and improving investor sentiment however, weakness in tech and cybersecurity stocks kept broader gains limited across the Nasdaq and S&P 500.

The Dow outperformed other indices, supported by consumer staples and retail-heavy stocks. Gains in Procter & Gamble (+3.40%), Home Depot (+2.54%), Nike (+2.94%) and Coca-Cola (+2.42%) helped lift the index to record territory while the move reflects defensive buying and renewed confidence in stable earnings sectors.
