US Postal Service Publishes Mail-In Ballot Rules Ready To Take Effect Despite Ongoing Court Block
India, Aug. 23 -- The US Postal Service has published a detailed final draft of rules that would restrict how mail-in ballots are handled nationwide, positioning the measures to take effect immediately if a federal court injunction currently blocking them is overturned.
The 95-page document, released on Friday, sets out requirements that states would have to meet before the Postal Service would distribute mail-in ballots on their behalf, including identifying every voter who has requested one and redesigning ballot envelopes to carry barcodes that postal officials could use to track and identify voting materials as they move through the mail.
